Use case
PDF editor for nonprofits
Nonprofits get decent TechSoup discounts on the big players (Adobe, DocuSign), but the administrative overhead of maintaining those licenses is real — annual renewals, seat reconciliations, TechSoup re-verification. For orgs doing 100-500 PDF operations a year (typical small-to-mid nonprofit), the total economic picture favors pay-per-use.
Specific nonprofit workflows: merge grant applications with exhibits (/merge, free). Compress the final submission PDF to fit foundation portal upload caps (/compress, 1 coin). Fill and sign an annual Form 990 (/edit + /sign, 3 coins). Send donor agreements to multiple signers (/sign, 3 coins/signer). Redact personal info from an annual report before posting publicly (/redact, free).
For orgs with annual budgets under $1M, PennyPDF's $14.99/year Power pack covers essentially all PDF needs. For larger orgs, we offer a flat 30% nonprofit discount on all coin packs with 501(c)(3) verification — email nonprofits@pennypdf.com with a letter of determination.
How it works
- 1For grant applications: /merge the application + exhibits.
- 2For 990 filings: /edit the form directly, /sign with board authorization.
- 3For donor agreements: /sign with multi-signer workflow and audit trail.
- 4For annual report publishing: /redact PII before public release.
- 5For recurring work: email for nonprofit discount (30% off).
Frequently asked
How do I claim the nonprofit discount?+
Email nonprofits@pennypdf.com with your EIN and letter of determination. Coin credits appear in your account within 1 business day. No ongoing renewal verification required.
501(c)(6) and other nonprofit types?+
All 501(c) classifications qualify for the discount, plus international charity equivalents (Canadian registered charities, UK CIOs, EU ASBLs).
TechSoup eligibility?+
We're not a TechSoup partner (the overhead doesn't match our margins at pay-per-use prices). The direct 30% discount is typically equivalent to or better than TechSoup pricing on subscription products.
Shared account for the whole org?+
One account with shared coin pool works for small orgs (<10 staff). Team accounts with individual logins + shared pool is Phase 7 roadmap.
Data privacy for donor records?+
Client-side tools (merge, edit, redact) keep files in-browser, no server upload. Server-side tools delete files within 2 hours. For extra assurance, we sign a data processing agreement (DPA) on request — standard for nonprofits with EU donors.
