Task
Watermark PDF with a logo
Watermarking a PDF is useful for marking drafts, branding proposals, or signaling a document as CONFIDENTIAL without needing a DRM system. PennyPDF's watermark tool accepts either text or an image (logo), lets you set opacity, rotation, tile vs single-stamp, and which pages to apply to.
Image watermarks: drop a PNG with transparency (your logo with a transparent background works best). The tool scales it to fit a chosen percentage of the page width, positions it, and applies the chosen opacity. Transparency is preserved.
Text watermarks: same controls, plus font/size/color. Diagonal rotation (-45°) is the traditional 'draft' look. Tile mode repeats the mark across the whole page — noisier but harder to crop out.
How it works
- 1Upload your PDF and watermark image (or type text) at /watermark.
- 2Set opacity (try 30%), rotation, and position.
- 3Choose 'all pages' or a range.
- 4Download. No coins, watermark is a genuine PDF edit.
Frequently asked
Can the watermark appear behind the content?+
Yes — toggle 'Behind content' in advanced options. Useful for PDFs with predominantly white backgrounds where you want the watermark visible but not dominant.
Tile mode?+
Tile mode repeats the watermark across the page on a regular grid. Effective for preventing cropping-out of a single mark.
Can I remove a watermark later?+
Watermarks you add are part of the PDF content stream — removing them requires re-editing. The /edit tool's eraser or region-select can delete them if you have the source. Removing someone else's watermark from a document you received is a separate tool (premium, AI-assisted).
Does it support SVG logos?+
SVG is converted to raster at output time. For best quality, supply a PNG at 2-3x the final display size.
Preserves existing annotations?+
Yes — annotations on each page are untouched; the watermark renders in its own layer.
